The “6 Important Steps” project was implemented in Slavuta, with children from internally displaced families from Donetsk and Luhansk regions taking part. The project was implemented by the NGO LDA Mariupol in cooperation with its partners.
Recently, the “6 Important Steps” project was implemented in the city of Slavuta. As part of the project, children from internally displaced families from Donetsk and Luhansk regions had an opportunity to discover themselves, explore their own emotions, feelings, and the world around them.
A safe and comfortable space was created for the children, where they could not simply have fun, but also explore themselves and the world around them. Over the course of six days, the programme was filled with children’s emotions, discoveries, laughter, and small victories. The children took part in interesting workshops.
The organisers tell us about the first three steps of the project.
Step 1. The World of Colours. During the first step, the children learned to notice beauty, experiment, and talk about their feelings through colours.
Step 2. Emotions in Action. The second step was dedicated to emotions. The children learned to recognise emotions, express them, and understand that every emotion has the right to exist.
Step 3. Movement and Rhythm. The third step involved movement and activity. The children danced, moved, laughed, and learned to feel their bodies.
At the same time, parents were restoring their inner resources at the “Parents’ Club”. During the meetings, they discussed challenges in raising children and in parenting. Parents also took part in a music therapy training. They painted pictures with sand and completed tests that helped analyse their inner state.
“It is precisely from such small moments that inner harmony is built,” the project organisers note.
The organisers thanked every child who was part of this journey, as well as the parents for their trust.
The project is being implemented by the NGO “Local Democracy Agency of Mariupol” in cooperation with the “Robogoroshko” Development Centre, the “Territory of Celebrations” Studio, and the “Art Techhub” Community-Building Centre, with financial support from the Municipality of Gdańsk and ALDA.
